Brahman Sabha, Amravati is an organization registered under the Societies Act, dedicated to the welfare of the Brahmin community in Amravati. Its aims include organizing social, educational, and cultural programs and supporting those in need within the community. The Sabha has served society continuously for over five decades.
Brahman Sabha was established in Amravati approximately 78 years ago through the efforts of Late Krishnaji Ganesh Sahastrabuddhe, Late Vasudev Ganesh, also known as Kaka Tambe, Late Dattopant Natekar, and other community leaders. Many members and volunteers continued their work, contributing their time and energy to shape the organization into what it is today.\n\nThe Sabha’s foundations were laid before India’s independence by respected community members Late Shri Dadasaheb Khaparde, Late Shri K. G. Sahastrabuddhe, Late Shri V. G. Tambe, and Late Shri Dattopant Natekar. Its work was initially carried out informally. We remain grateful to everyone whose contributions made the Sabha what it is today.
In 1967, inspired by this early work, Brahman Sabha formed a new executive committee and registered the organization. Late Shri Baburao Ganorkar, Late Shri R. Y. Mahajan, Late Shri R. G. Kulkarni, Late Shri Shidore, and Late Shri Vasudevrao Khaparde took the initiative.\n\nThe organization was registered on 16 November 1967 under the Mumbai Trusts Act. Registration No.: A/1413/Amravati.
The Sabha acquired its own premises at Khaparde Bagicha and opened its office there.
In 1984, Brahman Sabha had only 25 members and a remaining balance of ₹300. Late Shri Baburao Ganorkar (President), Shri Vasudevrao Khaparde (Secretary), Rambhau Pasarkar (Vice President), and Joint Secretary Sudhir Kulkarni restarted the Sabha’s work with renewed determination.
The Sabha purchased its own land at Daroga Plot, Rajapeth. Padmashri Prabhakarrao Vaidya performed the bhoomipujan, and the executive committee of the time worked hard to build the premises.
The new building was inaugurated by Shri Bindumadhav Joshi, a renowned social worker from Pune and President of Grahak Panchayat.
A plan to expand Brahman Sabha was prepared. Late Shri Prabhakar Rao Kulkarni, a generous donor from Amravati, contributed twelve lakh rupees in memory of his wife. This generous donation helped complete the Sabha’s building and development plans. The completed auditorium was named Late Smt. Jayashri Prabhakarrao Kulkarni Sabhagruha.\n\nThe auditorium was inaugurated by Shri Jitendranath Maharaj, Mathadhipati of Devnath Maharaj Math in Anjangaon Surji.
